Meet Our Water Champions
As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program, we honor our Water Champions, whose dedication fuels our mission. Their efforts in educating families and delivering life-changing clean water bring us closer to our goal of 25 billion liters by 2025. This milestone is a tribute to their invaluable contributions and commitment to our cause.
Khurram Taufiq
In 2004, amid the Afghanistan war, Khurram Taufiq launched P&G's Purifier of Water operations in Pakistan. Travel restrictions and instability prevented on-site expert support, so Taufiq's team relied on virtual guidance from global P&G colleagues. Despite these challenges, they successfully launched production by November 2004.
One month later, the Asian Tsunami struck, creating a widespread need for clean drinking water. On New Year's Eve, P&G headquarters requested increased production. Taufiq's team abandoned holiday plans, working overtime and multiple shifts to produce millions of packets. Their shared purpose motivated them. P&G recognizes Taufiq as a Water Champion for his extraordinary leadership during this crisis.
"Nearly 20 years later, I still feel pride whenever I encounter the P&G Purifier of Water packets or the CSDW Program," Taufiq reflects. P&G is equally proud of Taufiq's contributions. For Taufiq, this project remains a career highlight and a powerful reminder of P&G's purpose and values.
